FAQ –Product
Q.  What is the best way to defrost/thaw my Sweetwood order?
A.  Thaw beef under refrigerated conditions whenever possible. If pressed for time, place steaks in a bowl under cold water for 1 hour.   Do not use a microwave to thaw beef as the meat will toughen and partially cook. This slow thawing technique enhances flavor and natural tenderness.
Q.  How long will my steaks last in the freezer?
A.  We recommend enjoying your steaks immediately for the best taste and tenderness. If you’re not able to enjoy your order immediately, Sweetwood products can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Q.  What do you feed your cows?
A.  A blend of various grass species, grains and beets from producers in Colorado, natural herbs, and pristine Rocky Mountain water from the Zirkel Wilderness above Steamboat Springs.
Q.  What is slow aged?
A. We age all of our beef for at least 3 weeks.  Our commitment to slow aging our beef takes time, effort and additional investment, but the end result is the most tender, flavorful cut of beef you can find anywhere.
Q. What kind of cows do you raise?
A.  High Altitude, Red and Black Angus
Q.  Do you give your cows antibiotics or hormones?
A.  Antibiotics and added hormones are strictly prohibited in Sweetwood’s management program.  Our product is 100% natural.
Q. Do you add artificial ingredients to your steaks and sausages?
A.  No; we never add artificial ingredients to our products.  You’ll notice that our sausage and Sweet Burger ingredients are simple, clear to understand, and always natural.

FAQ-Packaging
Q. What it the silver liner in my Sweetwood package made from?
A.  The ‘green liner’ in your box is made from recycled foam.  We made it a top priority to use recycled and biodegradable products whenever possible in our shipping system.
Q.  What keeps my Sweetwood order cold?
A.  Our package is kept cold by custom gel packs placed under and above the items in your order.  The plastic film is recyclable and the gel material is non toxic and safe to wash down household drains.  We highly recommend saving the gel pack, refreezing and reusing.
Q.  What do I do with the gel packs that came in my Sweetwood order?
A.  We choose to keep our products cold with gel packs because they are reusable.  You can store these in your freezer or at room temperature and freeze later when you need them.   They are great to throw in a cooler or a bag for keeping food items chilled or to sooth sore muscles after exercise.
Q.  Do you import you’re packaging from sources outside the U.S.?
A.  No; everything we use for the business is sourced in the US.  We focus on local resources for business items first, then Colorado, then the rest of the country.  Supporting local and American business is a top priority for Sweetwood.
